Touches of spring in my home

I had a gorgeous French mantle that I would decorate for each holiday. Well, I didn’t anchor it properly and it fell off the wall and broke. For weeks it sat on the ground and I didn’t know what to do with it. Finally I decided I would save the corbels and try a new look. Here is the shelf I made from 2 corbels and some reclaimed wood. I literally found the wood pieces in my barn.

I wanted to decorate for spring, but in a natural and elegant way. I had a vision of hanging branches and hanging mason jars. So I went in my yard and broke off a few branches. I tied them together with twine and started adding fake greenery and flowers.

I wanted things hanging but after the shelf falling down, I was afraid to hang anything. So each item hanging from my branches is actually on its own nail in the wall. A faux hang.

I hope you find inspiration and enjoy.

  1. Oh goodness, I would be so sad to find the french mantel on the floor! But at least you salvaged the corbels and made a fabulous shelf! I think it all looks great. Love that you still use fake greenery too. So many people don’t these days and I think they’re crazy. Glad I found your blog!

    1. Awe thank you so much for you sweet comments. I love using a combination of fake greens and flowers and real eucalyptus. Because the eucalyptus will dry nicely and can stay for a while
