Decorating a Shelf

I love decorating shelves for a few reasons. #1, I have a one year old, and he can’t reach the decor on a shelf. #2 You can switch it up seasonally! I love to work with everyday staple items and add a few things to make it seasonal.

Here is my 5ft blank shelf. See previous post to find items.

I bought the Shelf locally from Rod Works, but antique farmhouse had it too shelf

Then I spread out my haul on my island.

Here are some items I picked up between, Marshall’s, Hobby Lobby, and Rod Works Home Decor

I have a eucalyptus tree so I cut a bunch of branches to use.

I wanted to fill the bottom of the jars with something, so they didn’t look empty.

Well I had all the paper that the stores wrapped my items in, so I re-used it, and made vase filler.

I thought it looked like a little nest, perfect now to fill with my greenery.

I ended up using my fake cotton, and lambs ear from Hobby Lobby, and mixing it with the fresh eucalyptus.

Finally I topped them off with some cute Christmas ribbon from Rod Works. I can use these year round and just switch up the ribbon, they sell it for $1 a yard!

Next I filled my other vases that I had already lying around the house, white pitcher, milk bottle, and long silver box (find similar items at antique farmhouse or Wayfair). I love to use candle sticks non traditionally. As in not for candles. I picked up these balls at Rod Works, but they were a little plain so I added com cotton stems. They sell balls of cotton at Hobby Lobby! I added a Christmas tree (no brainer) for Christmas, $5 Hobby Lobby. And we’re done! Till next holiday yeah? HMMM Valentines?
